GIM’s 745 kWp solar PV facility fulfils 50% of its energy needs. Monocrystalline solar cells optimize energy conversion, minimizing roof space usage. Additionally, GIM utilizes solar water heating (37 KLD capacity) and solar streetlights (634 kWh/year). The solar panel efficiency is 17%. There are around 1800 solar panels around campus.
It aligns with SDG Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 13: Climate Action, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
