This is a newly discovered large-sized frog that is endemic to the Western Ghats of Goa. It was first discovered in Surla village of Goa which is at a distance of 13 kms from the GIM campus. It is identified by its morphological features like pointed snout and first finger being longer than the second one. Limited studies and research papers are available on this species.

Recently, it was spotted in the Western Ghats extending into Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is speculated to be found in the vicinity of paddy field habitats.
